Gold Reef City Casino and Producer, Richard Loring have announced a stellar cast drawing from media celebrities and the performing arts to include top line entertainers like Mara Louw, Harry Sideropolous, Mike Huff and Kate Normington.

Hairspray is a feel good musical about a plump teenage girl who takes the world of showbiz by storm, winning fame, fortune and romance. Sporting a long list of awards including eight Tony awards, seven Drama Desk awards, three Outer Critic Circle awards, the New York Drama Critics Circle Award for Best Musical, the Drama League Award for Distinguished Production of a Musical and a Grammy for Best Musical Show Album, Hairspray promises to wow audiences with the cream of local talent.

Set against the backdrop of Big Hairdos, Hit Singles, Milkshake Parlours and Civil Rights marches in America in the early 1960s, South Africans will easily identify with the themes of Hairspray moving towards integration, harmony and a celebration of democracy.

Sowetan-born Mara Louw started singing in the church choir at the age of ten and has since starred in some world class productions including The African Odyssey, Blues in the Night, Baby Come Duze, Ekhaya Musical: Barnum, Show Boat, The Crucible, and Fame. TV viewers will recognise her as one of the judges in Idols 2 and 3 and as host of her cooking show, Mara Louw and Friends. "
